Crispy Fried Onion Strings

 

Simple, easy and cheesy! My whole family loves this recipe so much. If it were for them, I’d be making this every day! Give it a shot, you’ll love it!To Make this Recipe You’ Will Need the following ingredients:

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 large onion, halved and sliced thin
  • 1 1/2C buttermilk
  • 1C all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp mustard powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

 

Directions:

  1. Prepare onion by slicing in half.
  2. Use a sharp knife or mandoline to slice the onion very thin.
  3. Soak sliced onion in milk for 30 minutes.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine dry ingredients.
  5. Preheat vegetable to 350°F in a deep fryer or a large stockpot.
  6. Coat a handful of onion slices in the flour mixture.
  7. Shake off excess flour. Fry for 2 minutes or until just golden.
  8. Drain on paper towels and lightly sprinkle with salt.
  9. Repeat with remaining onion slices.
  10. Use immediately or store in an airtight container.
