Grandma’s Candied Yams are sweet potatoes baked with lots of love. The potatoes are baked in butter, sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon spices…
1 lg can yams, drained
1 stick parkay (use any brand, this is the ONLY brand my grandma used)
1 c brown sugar
1/2 c white sugar
Marshmallows (I like the large ones. The smaller ones melt away)
Put butter and sugars in pan (the pan I used was bigger than 9×9 and smaller than 9×13) and put in oven.
Preheat oven to 350° (pan is in oven as it heats up).
Once butter is melted, remove pan and add yams.
Cut bigger ones so they are all the same size.
Add pats of butter on top. Bake 30 minutes.
Take out and toss around to coat (my grandma could flip them yams without making a mess.)(stir them and flip to coat)
Put a handful of marshmallows on top and return to oven. Cook until melted.
